Memories…

So my law school reunion turned out to be pretty fun. I was actually surprised at how happy I was to see people that I really hadn’t thought about in a while. Everyone who showed up appeared to be doing pretty well, with several folks married, some new babies (and some more on the way), and the usual complaints about working too many hours.

I will admit to bailing (along with several others) once the pub crawling started in earnest – some things I will happily admit to actually being too old for these days.

What a crappy summer.

08/26/2003

It only hit me this morning that we only have a few more days until labor day. which sucks entirely too much. This is quite possibly the worst summer I’ve experienced here in New York. First, it rained nonstop until some time in July, and then it proceeded to go immediately to 97 degrees and 90% humidity every single day, and the only thing to break up that monotony was more rain.

I swear, if they ever declare a drought emergency again i’m just not going to believe them. Normally I spend a good number of Saturday afternoons sitting in the park by my house. This summer, I spent one (one!). and it wasn’t even summer yet – it was the weekend before Easter.

My friend, however, is extremely blessed – she got married on Saturday, during a weekend that has been described by some in the news media as the best August weekend since they’ve been keeping track of those sorts of things. 80 degrees. no humidity to speak of. not a cloud in the sky. I’m taking it as a karmic sign about their relationship. and god knows I was damn happy for those to be the circumstances under which I spent 12 hours standing around in heels and a black floor-length evening gown posing for photographs. outside.

Sunday I did manage to wake up and make it to Stamford for sailing (not stanford as I posted earlier – that would have been a much longer trip!). I spend the day with my friend C, her husband, her parents, and her almost 1-year old son. It was really a great day, only marred by the fact that I was so tired that I did have to take an hour-long nap below deck on the way back.

In other news, Howard Dean is going to be in town this Thursday. I would love to attend, but I have to meet my trainer at 9 p.m. combined with the fact that the MTV Music awards are going to be going on about 20 feet from my office, I’m imagining all sorts of difficulties with being in one place, much less two places at the same time. Oh well. he’s ubiquitous enough at this point that I’m sure he’ll be in town again.

busy busy busy!

08/23/2003

Wow. I’m a little bit busy this week. Okay, so after I got all of my client’s problems resolved on Wednesday, I did take Thursday and Friday off. But Thursday was TARCon, and Friday I somehow made it to Sephora at 8:30 in the morning. Then down to Chinatown for lunch, and to Westchester for my friend’s rehearsal dinner…

And now I’ve got about 20 minutes before I’m off to get my hair done, catch a car back to Westchester, and spend the day fulfilling my bridesmaid duties for my oldest friend…all in all, pretty relaxing. Then tomorrow I’m going sailing with another friend who is in town for the wedding. That should be easy going, except for the part where I have to take the train to stanford in order to meet them.
