It’s almost like being there.

Jake Dobkin, Gothamist publisher, takes pictures of pretty much everything I would have zoomed in on at the MoMA reopening. A little Monet, Pollack and Mondrian, among others. I’m still planning on skipping work one afternoon to go check it out myself (the MoMA’s only a half a block from my office), but seeing these photos is like seeing some old friends.

In high school and college, one of my favorite activities was to take the train into the city and check out the art. The MoMA was one of my favorite museums, driven in part by the fact that my SUNY ID card got me free admission (unlike the Whitney or the Met). I know a lot of people are complaining about the "astronomical" $20 admission price, but frankly, I think it’s still a bargain. Plus, on a nice day, you can hang out in the courtyard all afternoon.
